Stray Thought

A hypothesis on forms of government:

Governments try to restrain all but one kind of sin, and may be classified by which one they don't restrict.

Pride: Monarchy
Wrath: Military Junta
Envy: Socialism
Avarice: Capitalism
Sloth: Bureaucracy
Gluttony: Ochlocracy (mob rule)
Lust: Anarchy

You rarely get them in pure form, of course. The USA may have a fairly equal balance among the seven sins due to our system of checks and balances.
