Beefing Up the Army

libertarianhawkI've been grumbling for years about Bush's refusal to increase the size of the Army. Specifically I've been wishing for two divisions of dedicated occupation troops (mostly MPs) to handle Iraq and whatever comes next. Amazingly enough the NY Times now agrees with me:
A force totaling 575,000 would permit the creation of two new divisions for peacekeeping and stabilization missions, a doubling of special operations forces and the addition of 10,000 to the military police to train and supplement local police forces.
Of course, they want to pay for it by getting rid of my job. So it goes.
